Extreme Ironing News Here at the EIB headquarters, we all marvelled when we saw that fantastic picture, sent in by the South African ironists. We caught up with Troye Wallet, the overall winner of the Rowenta Trophy, to find out how he got into extreme ironing and his future plans within the sport.
“It all started on Llandadno beach in cape town, the sun was setting and the irons were out and clothes were being removed to get the crinkles out of them,” explains Troye. “It was then that my passion for a clean line and smooth fabric was born. Then it became too exciting and people couldn't control themselves and somersaulting off the board and using strength and bodyweight to get rid of those tough creases.

“The following weekend we were in the Cedarberg,” he continues. “After the team got some stunning pics on the Maltese Cross, it was my day on the gorge at Wolfberg cracks. We were hanging around (as the pic shows) after a hard climb and to my shock and horror I noticed a crease. I felt it was duty to rid the shirt of the unsightly wrinkle. So, I whipped out my trusty mountain iron and board and sorted out that nasty crinkle. And that was that.”

”Next year I am planning on a worldwide extreme ironing road trip to all the awesome places in the world and set to take my passion of climbing and ironing to new heights,” concludes Troye.
