Under water extreme ironing has reached a remote part of South Africa, demonstrating that it's not just the Kiwis and Aussies that have a penchant for pressing the wrinkles out of the sea bed.

Volunteers and staff from Blue Ventures Conservation took time off from studying the reefs of Andavadoaka, in remote south western Madagascar, to iron a few items at one of the world's beauty spots.
Kit Gillibrand aka IroningWilderness explains: "There wasn't really any conscious decision to go; it just seemed a natural thing to do! I first went ironing in Sydney, Australia when I passed my dive instructor exams, so when I went to Madagascar the first thing I bought in country was an iron. Initially there was some trouble getting a board; a local hotel owner claimed to have a lady who could iron "to the standard of the Savoy" but wasn't willing to donate her to the cause!"
When pressed for his opinion on the rivalry between the Kiwis and Aussies for the record for the most people ironing under the water at the same time, IW replied: "As for the current Aussie/Kiwi contest, I'm not sure it really fits with the spiritual side of ironing; can such a mass produced product really produce the crisp creases of the solo artisan? Maybe if we had found more boards, we would have beaten both. Dammit!"
All we can say from the EIB is well done Ironing Wilderness. The spirit behind extreme ironing is to find new and interesting places to do your ironing, and the coral reefs of Madagascar certainly fits the bill.
